No Doubt Interview in Entertainment Weekly!

So THIS was the interview Tom referred to in his tweet on Friday when he said ND had talked to journalists and taken some photos! The band talked to Entertainment Weekly-a sneak peek of the interview is below, and the full article will be featured in the issue of Entertainment Weekly hitting newsstands this Friday!! We cannot to read the whole thing and will have the article up as soon as possible!! If anyone has a subscription to the magazine and would like to share scans, please feel free to send them in!

From EW.com:

It has been nearly 10 years since No Doubt dropped their last studio album, Rock Steady; five years since singer Gwen Stefani dropped her last solo album The Sweet Escape; and two years since the group reunited for a big summer tour.

But Job-like No Doubt fans are about to be rewarded: Stefani, guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal and drummer Adrian Young sat down with Entertainment Weekly in Santa Monica this past weekend to chat about where they’ve been—and where they’re going.

And while we’re keeping the big news a secret for now (you can read the whole interview in this week’s coming issue, which on newsstands this Friday), Stefani did tell us that the days of her being a solo artist are probably over.

“That was a moment in time,” Stefani said firmly when asked about the future of her solo career. “It went on a little longer than we all thought it would, because it was inspired and you have to go with wherever you’re at in that time in your life … [But] everything works out how it should.”

For the rest of the No Doubt’s revelations—including how life has changed since they now have nine(!) kids onboard between them, and what they think of the current state of the music industry—check out this week’s issue.

EDIT-The media is already buzzing over No Doubt’s article, even though it doesn’t hit newsstands until Friday! Most fans already knew that Gwen’s solo career was over, since she has repeatedly said as much in interviews since The Sweet Escape was released, but it’s still good to see the media excited about the ”big news” No Doubt will be announcing in the article.

From Perez Hilton(ugh, but he is apparantly a big ND/Gwen fan):

The Hollaback girl had her moment. Now, she just wants to be with her boys!

In an upcoming interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gwen Stefani, Tom Dumont, Tony Kanal and Adrian Young, aka No Doubt, reveal that they have some big plans to announce to their fans VERY SOON. Since its been about ten years since their last album, everyone’s fingers are crossed that they’ll finally be announcing the release of their next disc. But, the news won’t be revealed until Friday, so stay tuned…

But while the big news on No Doubt’s future is being kept a secret, we do know that Gwen is focusing all her energy on the band. Her solo career, she admits, is over. She explains:

“That was a moment in time. It went on a little longer than we all thought it would, because it was inspired and you have to go with wherever you’re at in that time in your life … [But] everything works out how it should.”

It would appear that way!

We think you are making a wise decision, G! This is where you belong – and we can’t wait to see (and hear!) what your next chapter is going to be like!

From 411Mania:

The “moment in time” has passed, and now it’s back to No Doubt

Entertainment Weekly sat down with all four members of No Doubt – Gwen Stefani, Tom Dumont, Tony Kanal and Adrian Young. Ten years after their last album and five years after Gwen’s last solo album, the band is ready to focus on moving ahead. Where the future leads them is still a mystery, since further details on the interview won’t be released until Friday.

However, Gwen’s days as a solo artist, she admits, have reached their end. “That was a moment in time. It went on a little longer than we all thought it would, because it was inspired and you have to go with wherever you’re at in that time in your life … [But] everything works out how it should.”

Jess Cagle, the editor of Entertainment Weekly,Tweeted this:

EDIT 2-Even more media buzz!

From NME:

Gwen Stefani has pledged her future to the reunion of No Doubt, declaring that her solo career is over.

When the ska-pop band went on a long hiatus after their most recent album, 2001’s ‘Rock Steady’, Stefani released two pop-heavy solo albums, ‘Love Angel Music Baby’ and ‘The Sweet Escape’.

Now, talking to Entertaiment Weekly, the singer has said she will not be making any more solo records.

Stefani said: “That was a moment in time. It went on a little longer than we all thought it would, because it was inspired and you have to do with wherever you’re at in that time of your life… [But] everything works out how it should.”

It has been two years since No Doubt reunited for a US tour with no news of a new album. However, the singer teased that the band would be announcing their future plans this Friday (June 10).

From OhNoTheyDidn’t:

“That was a moment in time,” Stefani tells Entertainment Weekly about her solo career. “It went on a little longer than we all thought it would, because it was inspired and you have to go with wherever you’re at in that time in your life… [But] everything works out how it should.”

In April, Stefani spoke to Ryan Seacrest about the new No Doubt album, “We’ve been going for awhile trying to make this record and it s been super challenging but really fun. We’re trying to enjoy the moment of writing and…it’s just a really fun process and I think it’s going to be out this year,” she explained. “It’s generally a really happy album…the main thing we were trying to do is write really catchy good songs…we got about 10 songs done and we want to do a few more just in case, but it’s a really good record, I really love this record.”

The band are expected to make a special announcement about their future plans on Friday. I am assuming it will be album details. No Doubt’s last album, Rock Steady, was released in 2001. Rock Steady spawned three top 20 hits: “Underneath It All,” “Hella Good” and “Hey Baby.”

From AOLMusic:

Gwen Stefani has called it quits on her solo career in music after nearly eight years and two solo studio albums.

Stefani tells Entertainment Weekly, “That was a moment in time. It went on a little longer than we all thought it would, because it was inspired and you have to go with wherever you’re at in that time in your life … everything works out how it should.”

The No Doubt frontwoman branched out from her ska-pop rock band to start working on her first solo album, ‘Love.Angel.Music.Baby’ in 2003, which peaked at No. 5 on the US Billboard 200 upon its release in 2004. No Doubt subsequently went on an extended hiatus after 14 years of working together and five studio albums. Stefani’s debut album was followed soon after by the 2006 release of her sophomore ‘The Sweet Escape,’ which hit No. 3 on the US Billboard 200. Both albums went platinum.

Stefani admitted a new No Doubt album will take a while, as her bandmates are all busy, but Stefani insists she has no plans to release any more material without the guys. The band will officially announce future plans in a statement on Friday (June 10).

From Spinner:

Gwen Stefani has closed the door for good on her solo career and is back with her band No Doubt, she has announced.

When her ska-pop band went on hiatus, Stefani released two hugely successful solo albums, ‘Love Angel Music Baby’ and ‘The Sweet Escape.’

Now she’s revealed that she’s permanently back with her band and they’re working on a new album.

Talking about her solo career in this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly, she said, “That was a moment in time.

“It went on a little longer than we all thought it would, because it was inspired and you have to do with wherever you’re at in that time of your life … [But] everything works out how it should.”

She is now back in the studio with cohorts guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal and drummer Adrian Young working on new material.

The band’s last studio album was 2001’s ‘Rock Steady.’
