We’ve got a crush on No Doubt lead singer Gwen Stefani, who put on a spectacular show last week at Summerfest. She enchanted the crowd with her powerful vocals and spunky stage presence. Although she never broadcast the title at the time, it’s clear in retrospect that Stefani was the original Girl Power pop icon of the ’90s. It’s too bad the Spice Girls messed it all up when they bounced onto the scene with their ridiculous platform shoes, gimmicky brand and faux-feminist lyrics. Stefani was the real deal, and look who’s got the last laugh now.
