Thanks to Daniel for sharing,in a new interview with The Daily Star, singer Katy Perry references Gwen when describing her style of writing and performing:

Reclining on a leather couch with a glass of Chardonnay in hand, Katy tells me: “We took I Kissed A Girl and made it more rock when we’d play shows like at V Festival.

“It’s always been a part of me to have that Shirley Manson or Gwen Stefani style come out.

“Sometimes my only outlet is writing songs. You can find the truth in lyrics.”

Katy of course has expressed her admiration for Gwen in the past, saying last year after opening a show for No Doubt that she wants to be like Gwen ”when she grows up”, and also in interviews like this one:

Thanks to Daniel for sharing the news-from CMUNewsBlog:

No Doubt have signed an administration deal with music publishing types Kobalt which will include the band’s entire back catalogue outside of North America.

Outside the US and Canada, Kobalt will administrate all the publishing rights in songs by the band, and solo work from each band member, including Gwen Stefani (who has worked with Kobalt for a few years now).

They will also represent the band in the non-American syncs domain, while on the outfit’s next album, currently being recorded, Kobalt will look after digital royalties within the US as well.

Slow news week so far,but this seemed kind of interesting:the Vancouver Playhouse is premiering ”a contemporary dance rock concert” called SOLD DOUBT,which uses instrumental versions of No Doubt songs to play on ”public perceptions of the popular music industry”.The show plays July 9th and 10th,and more information is HERE

About “SOLD DOUBT”

MOVE: the company, in association with Dancing on the Edge, presents the Vancouver premiere of SOLD DOUBT, a contemporary dance rock concert, and the newest, exciting, full-length work by Vancouver’s wunderkind of dance – Josh Beamish. Performed to instrumental renditions of iconic rock group No Doubt’s Greatest Hits, SOLD DOUBT blends high-octane physicality with witty theatrics, as it plays on public perceptions of the popular music industry. Making it’s way through the hits, the ballads, the dance remixes and the obscure songs you never knew you loved, SOLD DOUBT blurs the lines between art and entertainment, dance and theatre, and comedy and tragedy. Using No Doubt as a platform to explore our greater addiction to the idols we create – and then dispose of – the work juxtaposes the power of the fans against the power of the suits. The perfume ads, photo shoots, product placements, clothing lines, YouTube homages, lights, costumes and the dance, all come together to reveal a tale of a girl, her band and a shopping cart full of oranges. Featuring six members of MOVE: the company and Special Guest Jesse Tyler of Atlanta Ballet, SOLD DOUBT is a Vancouver performance event you won’t want to miss.

July 9th and 10th, 2010 at the Vancouver Playhouse (Dunsmuir and Hamilton)

ShowTime: 8:00pm

Don’t think ”unexpectedly” is quite the right word to use, since it’s really no surprise how successful Gwen’s clothing lines have been, but Huffington Post has included L.A.M.B. and Harajuku Lovers on its list of the most unexpectedly profitable celebrity businesses.

Can’t take celebrity prankster Ashton Kutcher seriously? Think again. The actor’s built something of a mini-media empire is one of a handful of celebs who are making millions in their side jobs.

Sure, there’ve been plenty of celebrity businesses and start-ups over the years — and many don’t get too far once the buzz dies down. Britney Spears opened up the Manhattan eatery NYLA in June 2002. The restaurant received terrible reviews — along with a few lawsuits — and eventually closed, with a $350,000 debt.

But there still are a couple of celebrity businesses from which entrepreneurs could learn a lesson. There are even a couple celebrities who are probably getting to be more well-known as entrepreneurs than as entertainers. The eleven we picked have all been highly involved in their businesses by creating unique ideas and designs (Gwen Stefani) or as USA Today reports, buying out their lawyer’s minority stake in their own company in order to attain full business control (the Olsen twins).

Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. clothing label made a successful debut at New York’s 2005 Fashion Week and now reportedly pulls in about $90 million a year, MSNBC and LeFashionLab noted. She later launched another fashion line— and another winner—called Harajuku Fashion Lovers. Both labels are worn by celebs like Paris Hilton and Nicole Kidman.

**UPDATE** The awesome news has now been posted at KROQ.com!!

We asked and you answered, the best KROQ band of all time is No Doubt. The Orange County band definitely has L.A. roots, giving it the probably edge in the contest, but who were the up against and how did it all pan out?

Keep reading to find out.

With such mega hits as “Just A Girl,” “Don’t Speak” & “Spiderwebs” off their debut album Tragic Kingdom, No Doubt has truly made their mark on the music industry, selling over 15 million copies of the album worldwide.

The MGD64 Best KROQ Band Of All Time contest pinned the best KROQ artists against one another, leaving No Doubt standing in the end. The final battle went down between No Doubt and Sublime, a truly worthy advisory, as the two bands toured together early in their careers.

Fans can vote on which band they feel should have won the Best Band title(No Doubt,of course!) and leave comments on how they feel about the final decision.Congrats again to ND on winning!! :D

Today marks the one year anniversary of the tragic passing of Michael Jackson, one of the greatest entertainers the world has ever seen-and ever will see.A couple of days after Michael’s passing,ND payed tribute by dedicating ”Hella Good” to him(Steve Bradley has said that ND was inspired by ”Billie Jean” when composing ”Hella Good”.) Here is one video where Gwen says,”This is for Michael” at the beginning of the song:

Another No Doubt/Michael connection is from the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards, when Michael and Britney Spears presented ND with an award-unfortunately,there is no video available of this moment.

Back at the writing together tonight. Sometimes it’s easier and fun to just hang out, shoot the sh*t and listen to music. :-) -Tom

EDIT- The actual writing heats up as the night gets late. Hours to get comfy and then BOOM! Music happens. -Tom
