Gwen’s makeup artist Gregory Arlt,who is also Director of Makeup Artistry for MAC,shared with Glamour Magazine the secret to Gwen’s gorgeous cat eye makeup look.
Gwen Stefani has the best makeup maybe ever, right? Well, I got the man behind many of her looks, Director of Makeup Artistry for MAC Gregory Arlt to tell me how he gets that lovely dramatic-but-not-retro cat eye look that goes so well with all her bright lip looks.
Here’s what he had to say:
“I almost always go with ‘classic Gwen’ which is essentially a light lid with a darker crease and a signature cat eye. I generally use a bit of an ivory, gold, or pink shimmer on her huge eyelids and a neutral brown in the crease followed by a black liquid liner I’ve been doing more laterally. To achieve that, I follow the lash line with the liner, then pull it more straight out as opposed to ‘lifting’ it which would make it more of a cat eye. That shape is more ‘new wave’ than retro, keeping it modern and cool.”
Then loads of mascara and false lashes finished it all off (as per usual).
So that’s the secret, straight from the man behind the look himself. I feel loser to Gwen now. Do you?
