Los Angeles, CA (CNS) – No Doubt is going on tour for the first time in five years and Gwen Stefani gave her first interview where she talked about hitting the road, her kids, and even Britney Spears. Stefani revealed that No Doubt was beginning to craft their new album, their first since 2001’s “Rock Steady”, before they decided they wanted to go out on their North American tour.

“It came so out of the blue. We weren’t planning for this to happen,” she told KISS FM’s Johnjay & Rich. “We’re in the middle of making a record. But we’ve always been that band that plays live and after being pregnant all year, I feel like I need to get out there and get inspired.”

The band will continue to write for the new record on tour, which is expected to release at the end of 2009 or in 2010. “My favorite inspiration is seeing the people and seeing the kids singing the songs,” Stefani said. “It makes you want to write more songs.”

One thing that will be different from the band’s previous tours is the entourage. The “Hey Baby” singers will be joined by a few babies of their own. “All the No Doubt guys have kids as well so we’re gonna have to have a play room on the tour,” Stefani said.

She also revealed that her 2-year-old son Kingston is quite the Britney Spears fan. Spears and Stefani are actually Los Angeles neighbors. “He’s really into her. She actually lives on my street and he’s actually really into her a lot,” she says. “He goes over and he flirts with her.”

Stefani also says she’s preparing for the physical rigor of No Doubt’s live shows, which she says are different from her solo shows which involve more costume changes and theatrics. “I’m running, trying to get my fitness level up because the shows are going to be so intense,” she says. “It’s going to be exciting. There’s just a chemistry between us that’s undeniable.”

I'm 32 years old and married to the best man on Earth! No Doubt is my favorite band, they inspire me everyday. I remember getting my first computer when I was 14 and wanting to make a website about them. Now, 18 years later, I'm a Computer Programmer/Web Designer and STILL making a website about them. I'd like to thank No Doubt for that!
