Tom posted on his website about Apple CEO Steve Jobs,who announced yesterday he was stepping down,due to his health issues. Tom wrote that he was sad to see Jobs stepping down and recalled how in awe of him No Doubt was when the band met him in the Fall of 2002. He also posted a video of Jobs giving a powerful commencement speech at Stanford University in 2005 and thanked him for all he created.
I’m sad that Steve is stepping down from Apple, mostly because of what it implies about his health. It’s an important lesson that even the smartest, most creative and richest amongst us are still only human.
In the Fall of 2002, Tony, Adrian, Gwen and I all went to meet with our record label about our upcoming Superbowl Halftime performance.
As we walked in, Steve Jobs was just leaving. We each got to shake his hand as we met him, in awe. We grew up on Macs. Thanks Steve for all that you created.
