There are also quotes from Tony in which he states that when the First Lady asked the band to participate in the family-oriented fundraiser they were totally up for it because her concerns mirror theirs and those of others with small children. On Sunday August 12th, First Lady Michelle Obama will host a “Sunday of Fun” at Gwen’s home in Beverly Hills. The “Families for Obama” event will include fun activities such as face painting, bounce houses, and performances by kid musicians. Parents will also have the opportunity to bring their children to see and meet the First Lady. All funds raised from the event will support President Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign.

No Doubt visited the White House during a tour stop in 2009 and first met the First Lady and President Obama in 2010. “We all went to the White House when we were in DC on tour and Sam, the White House chef showed us their garden and laid out the healthy eating protocol. It was all super inspiring,” says Gwen, “as was getting to meet the President and First Lady when we performed at the Kennedy Center Honors in December of 2010.” The band is excited to participate in the event as it will be a day focused on families. Tony explains, “When the First Lady asked if we could do a family oriented fundraiser for this 2012 election we were totally up for it. The First Lady’s concerns mirror those of ours as parents with young children. Please join us in supporting her efforts.”
