Media Response to Recent Interviews

Looks like the recent interviews with Gwen and Tony where they talked about the new album have been getting a lot of media attention-it’s great to see the word about the new album spreading:

From OC Weekly:

The Associated Press hijacked Gwen Stefani at her L.A.M.B. fashion show in New York City and asked about the new No Doubt set. Here’s what she said:

“We have a bunch of songs, it’s hot. I can’t wait to give it to everyone, but it’s just not done! And the process takes so long, it’s so tedious—having kids we can’t stay out all night and do how we used to do it, so it’s taking a little bit longer but it’s going to be worth it.”

Stefani says she wants to release the album in December–but “that doesn’t mean anything” because the recording process is so unpredictable!

Even Tony Kanal had this to say: “We’re having the best time we’ve had making this record…here we are 23 years into it, making another record. We’re really lucky. ”

From The Epoch Times:

Gwen Stefani, the pop star and fashion icon of No Doubt fame, rocked New York during the spring 2011 fashion week with her new LAMB clothing line. She personally appeared on the catwalk of the show, dressing up in her own LAMB collection.

Backstage during the show, Stefani spoke about No Doubt’s up and coming album, the first since the group released ‘Rock Steady’ in 2001.

“I´ve been writing, listening to a lot of music. I just kinda chose stuff has been inspiring me,” said Stefani during an interview with AP. “It´s hot. I can´t wait to give it to everyone.”

The singer also said that while she hopes to complete the new album before December, having kids does not allow her to work all night as she did with other No Doubt members before. “It might take a little longer, but it´s worth it,” said Stefani who said she was going back to her studio right after the fashion show.

The band´s seventh studio release is expected to hit the market in 2011, with nine songs reportedly having been written so far. No Doubt also plans to release a low-cost album featuring “greatest hits and favorites from the most popular artists in music,” according to the band´s official website.

“We are having the best fun we have ever had making this record,” said Tony Kanal, No Doubt bassist.

From music cable channel FUSE:

It’s been a long time since the last No Doubt album. Like, nine years. But cheer up, long-suffering fans: work on the follow-up to Rock Steady is well under way… and a tour will follow the album’s release.

The news comes via No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal, who spoke to the Wall Street Journal while attending singer Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. show at New York’s Fashion Week. Work on a new album, said Kanal, proceeds steadily, if slowly:

‘We’ve been working on it most of the year. We’re all having a lot of fun together in the studio and it’s a great record we’re making. There’s still a lot more work to do on it. It’s been a bit of a snail’s pace but it’s going to be worth it.’

What’s a little while longer if the wait has already been nine years, right? As for the album’s sound, Kanal cites a good amount of ’80s’ and ‘Jamaican’ influences, but adds that it’s far too early to talk title or release date.

Stefani’s Spring 2011 line for L.A.M.B. features a ‘rock star chic’ vibe combined with a ‘tribal’ influence.

From ThirdAge:

Gwen Stefani took time out of her schedule at the L.A.M.B. fashion show in New York to talk about plans for a new No Doubt album. Stefani, the lead singer, and bassist Tony Kanal discussed the new album which will be the first since 2001.

“We are having the best fun we have ever had making this record,” said Tony Kanal.

“I´ve been writing, listening to a lot of music. I just kinda chose stuff has been inspiring me,” said Stefani during an interview with AP. “It´s hot. I can´t wait to give it to everyone.”

Stefani said the band has hopes to complete the album by December, but due to kids “it might take a little longer, but it´s worth it.”

The release is expected to hit the market in 2011.
