In honor of what would have been Elvis Presley’s 77th birthday today, Stylelist has put together a photo gallery of celebs who have been inspired by the King’s famous pompadour,and naturally Gwen is mentioned. She has rocked the pomadour many times,including during No Doubt’s performance of ”Suspicious Minds” in the ”Elvis Lives” TV special a few years back.
Elvis Presley may forever be remembered for rock and roll hits like “Hound Dog” and “Jailhouse Rock” and pelvis thrusts that gave young girls heart palpitations, but his pompadour is just as timeless.
The heightened hairdo made popular by “the King” — who would have turned 77 on Sunday (January 8) — has been remixed by musicians such as Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys, Adam Lambert, Rihanna, Janelle Monae and Bruno Mars. Meanwhile, we spotted models backstage at the fall 2011 fashion shows of Ruffian, Dolce and Gabbana and Rochas sporting rockabilly styles. And Hollywood actresses like Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard and Natalie Portman have also borrowed this look from Presley.
