I was watching Chris Rock’s new comedy special, Chris Rock: Kill The Messenger, and there’s a part about 30 minutes into it, where he says the loves Gwen Stefani and No Doubt is one of the best groups ever. He also says he always has a No Doubt cd in his car at all times. He was singing “Don’t Speak” and “Hollaback Girl”. It’s a really funny segment! He even says “Gwen Stefani Heaven” … the show itself is really funny, if you get a chance, check it out!

I think he’s embraced Gwen Stefani because her last cd was, how can I put this, catered towards black people in a sense. If you listen to the songs, like the one where she has the “Between The Sheets” beat and she’s sayin’ “You’re luxurious like Egyptian Coffee.” Black people took that as a shout out to them. I know I did when I heard the cd and apparently so did Chris Rock. She also used black hip-hop producers to help her craft that classic cd.
