Before debuting her fall 2011 collection at New York Fashion Week, a friendly Gwen Stefani answered a few reader questions submitted via Twitter. Q: We asked our readers to submit questions they wanted us to ask you.
A: Oh really? Cool. That’s an interesting idea.
Q: So here it goes…When are you going to add a make-up, sunglasses, men’s or workout collection to the line?
A: Oh my god, please. I don’t want anything else right now. I can’t handle it. There’s too much going on. Sunglasses would be amazing, but it’s one of those things where if I added one more thing to my plate….I love doing this, but it’s unbelievable how much time it takes to make it real and make things that I would really wear. I never thought it would be this much work. It’s so exciting and it’s so worth it at the end of the day. It’s so creative, and I’m just so passionate about it. But I can’t wait for this to be over today. It’s just such a build up. I was sitting in the showroom waiting for those clothes to get there. And I was like “Why am I sitting here? Where are the clothes?” And then they get there and then it’s all a scramble. And it’s just the same every season, and I still love doing it.
Q: Does this colleciton have any relation to you being in the studio for a new No Doubt record?
A: You know I always feel like clothes are a direct affect of music. Whether it be from me being like a little bit of an English girl, like a little bit of a Rasta girl, a little bit of an Orange County girl, it’s like always those same things come through in the clothes. Like you’ll see (in the fashion show) it’s very clear because we divided (the clothes) into six groups. I feel like I would never be a little English girl if I didn’t listen to the Cure or if I didn’t listen to Depeche Mode. So it’s like music definitely does flow through and I think that that’s how you get your style alot of it. It’s just defining yourself through the people that you love growing up.
Q: Fans want to know about when they’ll see a new No Doubt release and a possible tour?
A: That I have no idea. We are making a record. We have 10 songs in it. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The reason it’s taking so long is because I’m a mom and I’m doing all these things.
Q: We also heard that a few band members are expecting kids?
Two of them are not born yet, one of them just was born. But yeah, there’s alot of baby making happening. But (the record’s) going to come out, and it’s going to be good.
