Tom Shares Photo of His Matchless Clubman Amp

Tom shared on his Instagram a cool photo of his Matchless Clubman amp, revealing that it was a pre-production prototype that he bought at Blackmarket Music in LA as a treat following the success of the Tragic Kingdom album. He explained that No Doubt rented gear while recording back in the day and that for much of Tragic Kingdom’s recording he rented vintage SG’s (p90’s) through a rented Matchless Clubman 35. Thanks to Tom for sharing. 🙂

When @nodoubt recorded #tragickingdom I didn’t own very good sounding guitars or amps. For some reason we would rent gear while recording – much of TK I played on rented vintage SG’s (p90’s) through a rented Matchless Clubman 35. After the album became successful I treated myself to this Clubman, bought at Blackmarket Music on La Cienega in LA. This particular #Matchless was a very early one, pre-production prototype, I am told. It sounds wicked
