No Doubt 25th Anniversary Retrospective: The Self-Titled Era

Merry Christmas! Our No Doubt 25th anniversary retrospective continues today with a look back at the self-titled era. In 1991 No Doubt, having built a huge following of loyal fans in Southern California ska scene while continuing to develop their unique sound, signed a record deal with fledgling Interscope Records. In between the band members’ work and school schedules, the group recorded their debut,self-titled album, which was released on March 17,1992. The band embarked on a promotional tour in the summer and fall of 1992(opening shows for Public Enemy, Pato Banton and The Special Beat),financing it,as well as a music video for ”Trapped In A Box”,themselves, due to Interscope’s lack of support. While the self-titled was not a commercial success, the album remains much-beloved by fans worldwide. What are your favorite songs and performances from the self-titled era?
